COVID-19 Annoucement

COVID-19 Update: Winter 2021

In response to the ongoing coronavirus (COVID‑19) pandemic, Laurier will continue to offer most courses online and virtually in Winter 2021.  In light of this approach, Community Service-Learning Coordinators are working with community organizations and faculty to develop remote CSL activities for Winter 2021 courses. We may consider some in-person CSL activities after reviewing options with faculty and community partners and where appropriate health and safety provisions are in place.  Any in-person CSL activities would be optional for students. Please stay tuned for further updates and course specific CSL information.  If you have questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

For the latest updates from Laurier about COVID-19, visit our coronavirus information page.

Community Service-Learning (CSL) courses at Laurier integrate service in the community with academic content. Through service-learning placements or projects at local organizations, you will fuse classroom learning with hands-on experience. As part of your CSL course, you will be guided through intentional and critical reflections that will connect your experience outside the classroom with course material.

We offer CSL courses in psychology, human rights and human diversity, youth and children’s studies, business, kinesiology, global studies, history, health studies, and geography, with new courses in development. We partner with non-profit or social profit organizations, schools, community centres and social agencies.

"CSL instilled a sense of pride I had been lacking being covered under a mountain of textbooks and lecture slides.”
