Step-by-Step Guide to Graduating
Step 1: Are you Ready to Graduate?
Step 2: Apply to Graduate
You are required to apply to graduate regardless of whether you intend to participate in the ceremony. If you are unable to attend, your degree/diplomas will be mailed approximately two weeks following convocation to the address provided on your application. Degrees/diplomas are not available for pick up in advance and will not be released until any holds on your account have been cleared.

Step 3: Confirm Your Ceremony Date and Time
You'll be able to confirm the date and time of your ceremony under "Unofficial Record of Course Work" on LORIS. The status of your application will change from "Applied" to "Granted" once all your final grades have been received, your record has been reviewed and you have met all program requirements for graduation.
Step 4: Academic Regalia Rental
Undergraduate and Master's degree candidates are required to wear academic regalia. Online rentals can be made when reserving guest tickets. If you do not pre-pay online your rental fee of $25 must be brought with you on the day of your ceremony.
PhD and DMin candidates must reserve their academic regalia with the Wilfrid Laurier Bookstore six weeks prior to graduation. The rental fee is $115.
Students who wish to attend convocation in traditional Aboriginal attire must submit a Traditional Aboriginal Regalia Request Form and this request must be received at least one week prior to the ceremony. Step 5: Guest Seating and Tickets
Graduates must visit the online portal to claim up to 3 guest tickets before May 22nd. Unclaimed tickets will be allotted to students requesting additional ticket requests. Requests for additional tickets can only be made through the online portal. Tickets are not available for purchase.
Doors will open one hour prior to the ceremony, at which time your guests are invited to select their seats. Guests to the Brantford campus, who do not have tickets will be invited to view the ceremony in Room 127 of the SC Johnson Building (beside the Sanderson Centre). Guests to the Waterloo Campus, who do not have tickets will be invited to view the ceremony in additional auditoriums
For friends and family who cannot join you, all Laurier convocation ceremonies are broadcast live online.

Step 7: Invite a Faculty Member and Share your Graditude
Has a faculty member inspired you or had a wonderful impact on your university career? Invite them to your ceremony using our personalized evite.
Is there a special someone who helped you get to graduation day? Tell them how much you appreciate their support by making a Class of 2017 Gift. Your donation will support Laurier's Student Emergency Bursary Fund. Your message of thanks will appear on the live feed at convocation for your parents, friends and professors to see prior to your convocation ceremony.
Step 8: Your Big Day
Before the CeremonyPlan to arrive 1 hour in advance of the ceremony to complete the graduate check in process. Personal items must be left with your guests.
PhotographyA photographer will be on stage taking photos.
After the Ceremony• Return your gown and hood.
• Collect your class composite if you have had your photograph taken by LifeTouch Photographers and have paid your sitting fee.
• Join your classmates at the faculty reception. Family and friends are encouraged to attend the celebratory receptions.
