Effective Fall 2026, KPE graduation requirements will be changing. To address growing challenges students face, such as placement availability and limitations to summer employment, Leadership placement hours will be removed as a graduation requirement.
If you are planning to graduate in Spring 2026, your graduation requirements remain unchanged. You are still required to complete 96 hours of approved Leadership experiences, and all hours must be completed and logged in Navigator by April 30, 2026. Failure to complete the required hours by the deadline will delay your eligibility to graduate. Petitions based solely on the proposed change will not be approved; only those supported by documented extenuating circumstances will be considered.
If you are not graduating in Spring 2026, changes to KPE graduation requirements are expected to take effect in Fall 2026. At that time, Leadership placement hours will no longer be required for graduation. Students are still encouraged to participate in Leadership and community experiences, as they provide valuable opportunities to build skills, gain experience, and explore career pathways. Leadership tracking in Navigator will remain available until April 30, 2026; after this date, unpaid placements will no longer be covered by WSIB. Students who choose to continue their involvement beyond this date must do so as volunteers and notify their organization accordingly.
Any Leadership placements submitted to Navigator going forward will be declined. You can still complete reflections and add experiences to your Laurier Experience Record at any time.
Students must complete training prior to initiating their leadership activity proposals. It is the student’s responsibility to verify that they complete the correct training required by the type of placement they are performing:
All online training courses are available through MyLearningSpace. Students will find the Self Registration tab on the MyLS home page, in the top left corner.
***The Part II course is only offered once every several weeks. Students must plan ahead to take this course prior to submitting their proposals for on campus experiences. Upon completion, students will enter the date they attended the Zoom class into their proposal. KPE will use this date to verify the student's attendance with the training facilitators.
Students will use Navigator to manage all aspects of their Kinesiology Leadership Experiences. See below links for step-by-step video instructions on:
