In an effort to promote the value of hands-on and co-curricular learning, all undergraduate Kinesiology and Physical Education (KPE) students complete a minimum of 96 hours of community leadership activity experiences as a graduation requirement.
These experiences will engage you in a leadership, administrative, instructional or service capacity related to the wide scope of kinesiology, physical activity, recreation, or applied health.
Our department regularly emails and posts leadership opportunities to Navigator. (examples include coaching, athletic therapy and physiotherapy)
Students must complete training prior to initiating their leadership activity proposals. It is the student’s responsibility to verify that they complete the correct training required by the type of placement they are performing:
All online training courses are available through MyLearningSpace. Students will find the Self Registration tab on the MyLS home page, in the top left corner.
***The Part II course is only offered once every several weeks. Students must plan ahead to take this course prior to submitting their proposals for on campus experiences. Upon completion, students will enter the date they attended the Zoom class into their proposal. KPE will use this date to verify the student's attendance with the training facilitators.
Students will use Navigator to manage all aspects of their Kinesiology Leadership Experiences. See below links for step-by-step video instructions on:
