Residence Students

Residence students are issued either a red, green or blue parking permit in accordance with your residence assignment. Please note that not all residence buildings have 24 hour parking adjacent to their building and you will be issued a permit for a lot in close proximity.

How to Apply for a Permit

Permit parking requests are part of the residence application process. Applying early does not guarantee you will receive a permit. All applicants that apply by the residence application deadline will be given equal consideration.

If you missed the deadline to apply (June 3, 2024), you can still apply for a residence parking permit. While you may still apply after the deadline, we reserve the right to waitlist individuals until we address parking space allocation. Once waitlisted, permits will be issued on a first come, first served basis.

Permit Policy

Any vehicle displaying a permit must be registered. If the plate(s) you intend to register incurred violations on university property at any time, you will not be granted a permit until all fines are paid in full.

Permits may not be sold, loaned or borrowed. If you no longer need your permit, contact the Parking and Transportation Resources office.

If you live in residence and require a temporary permit to park, visit to the Parking and Transportation Resources office to purchase a permit as they are issued based on availability.

24 Hour Parking Requests

Priority for 24-hour pakring permits is given to students living in residence. Should we have capacity in our 24 hour parking areas we would offer to non-residence students. If you are a non-residence student that requires 24 hour parking and would like to made a request- please contact parking@wlu.ca Please provide you Student ID and the parking area you are requesting and our office will add you to a waiting list. We have very limited availability in our 24 hour parking and we would recommend sourcing alternative parking. Students will not be notified until August if a permit is available for September.

**Please note that our 24 Hour pakring waiting list for non-residence students is now closed for the 2024-25 academic year.

Spring/Summer Term Requests

Pending availability we will issue permits for our 24 hour parking requests for the period May 1-August 31 annually.

Complete the Spring/Summer Residence Parking Permit Application. See the Parking Fees page for permit pricing.

Permit Policy

Residence students may not park in/on reserved spaces, accessible spaces, service vehicle spaces, roadways, fire routes and “no parking” areas. Permit parking is enforced in 24 hour pakring areas seven days a week. Failure to utilize the lots listed above may result in a ticket and/or tow. There is no short-term or drop off parking in residence lots.

If you expect to have an overnight visitor or plan to bring a vehicle to residence temporarily (e.g., moving in or out), see visitor and temporary parking page.

Residence Dons

Dons may only park in lots/spaces designated as redbluegreen or orange.

Permit application forms are available from Residence Services. Parking permits for Residence Life staff (including Residence Life Area Coordinators (RLACs)) are allocated on a limited basis and applications must be approved by Residence Services.

Those successful in obtaining a permit may contact the Parking and Transportation Office for pick-up instructions. The applicable fee will be placed on the student's account.

Any outstanding parking fines and expenses will be attached to student fees and Enrolment Services will not release marks/transcripts until all charges are paid.

Permit Policy

Permit parking is enforced in these lots/spaces 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Overnight parking of valid permit holders is permitted.
