Appointments and Fees

To book an appointment, call the Waterloo Student Wellness Centre at 519.884.0710 x3146 

The Student Wellness Centre is open, and we are transitioning to more in person services.  You will be advised at the time of booking whether your appointment is in person, over the phone, or over video. We require 24 hours notice for cancellation. A limited number of same-day appointments are available each day for students with acute illness and unpredictable concerns.  Students are asked to call as early as possible to be scheduled an appointment with the doctor later that day.

A limited number of same-day "WIT" appointments are available with counsellors each day (over the phone) for students who are not in crisis but feel they need to speak with someone that day.  These appointments are scheduled on a "first come, first serve" basis, so please call early.  If you are in crisis, please tell us when you call, so we can schedule you promptly.

In order to book appointments appropriately, the reception team will require some basic information about your presenting concern.

Cancellation and Missed Appointment Policy

It is your responsibility to ensure that you attend your appointments.  Cancellations will be accepted without penalty up to 24 hours before your appointment.  Individuals who give less than 24 hours’ notice of a cancellation or who miss an appointment will be invoiced for the full amount, as per the missed appointment fees outlined below.  Appointment reminders are usually emailed to your MyLaurier email the day before your appointment as a courtesy; however, you are responsible for your appointment from the time of booking.

To cancel your appointment you can call us and leave a message if we are closed; you can also email us at wellness@wlu.ca, or you can reply to your reminder email to tell us you'd like to cancel it.

We accept payments in cash or debit.

Missed Appointment Fees

  • Counselling session: $20
  • Routine medical (short): $30
  • Routine medical (long): $60
  • Psychiatrist: $75

Other Medical Fees

Effective January 2021

Visits to the Student Wellness Centre for medical appointments are generally covered by provincial health insurance (OHIP) or UHIP. The cost of counselling sessions is covered by your student services fees. Certain types of appointments, certain forms requested by third parties, and certain types of documentation are subject to additional fees.
