Do not lend your keys. Students lending keys will be subject to the residence conduct process.
All keys issued remain the property of Wilfrid Laurier University and students living in residence are prohibited from lending or duplicating keys. Students caught violating this policy will be subject to disciplinary sanctions.
The loss of any keys, fob or laundry card must be promptly reported to the Residence Office and all lost keys, which are subsequently found, must be returned immediately to the Residence Office.
Key replacement for lost and damaged keys (due to tape, stickers and/or paint) and lock changes (if required) will be processed at the student’s expense.
Amazon Lockers are available on the Waterloo campus for students to have their Amazon packages delivered to.
Mail and courier packages are processed through Distribution Services for all residence buildings and are placed into the Hawk Express Intelligent Locker for you to pick up.
You can find your residence mailing address (below) or by logging into your LORIS account and viewing the RE (residence) address type.
Use the address format below as your mailing address for both packages and letter mail:
<student's full name>
<name of residence building>
75 University Avenue West
Waterloo, ON, N2L 3C5
Use the address format below as your mailing address for both packages and letter mail:
<insert student's full name>
Distribution Services
20 Charlotte Street
Brantford, ON, N3T 2W2
You have three business days to pick up your packages via the Intelligent Locker System or at one of the Distribution locations.
Unclaimed packages are held in Distribution Services for an additional 15 business days after notification.
During this time, Distribution Services sends a “final notice” email to your @mylaurier.ca email address indicating that your package pick-up time has expired and failure to respond will result in their package being re-distributed or disposed of.
You can request that the package be re-processed back into the locker system, or you can pick it up directly from Distribution Services.
After 15 business days, Distribution will endeavor to return any parcels to the sender.
Parcels that remain unclaimed will be opened and, if suitable, forwarded to the Freestore located on the original campus of delivery. Parcels deemed unsuitable for the Freestore (e.g., due to damage, inappropriate contents) will be disposed of in approved Laurier waste bins or donated/recycled where feasible. This supports Laurier’s commitment to sustainability by reducing the amount of waste going to landfills.
This procedure does not apply to packages sent to the university by staff or faculty, or by student employees who order packages as part of their employment with the university.
When you move out of residence, you are advised that Distribution Services is not able to hold or forward your mail or packages after you have checked out of residence.
You should make sure you have provided a forwarding address to anyone who needs it and/or have mail or packages redirected appropriately.
Along with all the "dos" that have been mentioned, we're highlighting some "don'ts" for you to be aware of so you can receive your package hassle free.

Laundry facilities are available throughout all residence buildings. The university is not responsible for lost or damaged clothing. Your don will provide you with an orientation to these common areas in September.
The cost of operating the laundry machines in university-owned buildings have been incorporated into your residence fees.
Laundry fees have not been included in residence fees for those students that reside in leased residence buildings. Machines located in these buildings are coin and/or card operated. Leased buildings include 201 Lester St. Apartments, 202 Lester St. Apartments, 260 Regina St Apartments, 32 University Ave Apartments, 50 Marshall St Apartments, and Expositor Place.
Regina Residence students will have access to laundry facilities at King Street Residence.
Help us maintain the quality and comfort of our residence buildings to ensure your health and safety.
Students are encouraged to have a sustainable attitude to keep the Laurier campus green!
Garbage and recycling are to be taken outside residence buildings to the appropriate collection site, except in buildings with garbage chutes. Students are not to use common areas to dispose of large amounts of garbage.
Moloks located outside of the buildings are separated into different categories: garbage, exclusively cardboard and other recyclables.
All residence rooms, whether dorm-style or apartment-style, should be fully equipped with garbage cans and recycling bins. If you are missing either bin, contact your Residence Life Don.
Contact your don and provide details of the maintenance issue.
Your don will submit a work order to the Residence Facility Operations Coordinator and the appropriate person will assess the repair.
Facilities and Asset Management personnel have the right to enter a residence room without prior notice in order to perform maintenance duties.
Laurier is committed to promoting the health, safety and well-being of its employees, students and visitors. Asbestos continues to be present in a number of university buildings, in the form of sprayed fire proofing, insulation around piping and mechanical equipment, floor and ceiling tiles. Recognizing the hazards that may arise when asbestos fibres become airborne as a result of disturbance or deterioration, the university is committed to a strict management program of all asbestos-containing materials in university buildings and any activities that may disturb such materials. The university is committed to complying with the legislative requirements outlined under the Ontario Regulation respecting Asbestos on Construction Projects in Building and Repair Operations (O.Reg. 278/05). The university has an obligation to inform all occupants of any buildings containing asbestos. An inventory of asbestos, by building, is available at wlu.ca/sherm. Additional information can be obtained by contacting the Environmental/Occupational Health and Safety Office at x2874.
If you suspect your room has bedbugs, contact your Don or the Department of Residence as soon as possible. Once bedbugs have been confirmed, a licensed pest control company will treat the space. It may be necessary to check adjacent rooms. Your co-operation and active participation will be required throughout this process. No refund or reduction of residence fees will be granted and you will not be relocated to reduce the likelihood of further infestation.
Whether you're navigating room assignment, understanding community standards, hosting guests, or adjusting to live with new roommates, we've got you covered. Our guidelines and resources ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience for you and the residence community.
