Course Number
A first digit of 1, 2, 3 or 4 normally corresponds to the year level in an undergraduate program. A first digit of 5 or above represents a course at the graduate level.
Course Weight
The weighting factor is used to count course credits and calculate averages. For undergraduate courses, a weight of 0.5 approximates a 12-week (one-term) course of three contact hours per week. For graduate courses, a weight of 0.5 approximates a 13-week (one-term) course. Other weights are accordingly proportioned by duration and/or lecture hours.

Transcript Notations
The following designate a non-graded standing in a course.
Symbol definition:
- AUD = Audit
- CPL = Complete
- CR = Credit
- DEF = Deferred Examination approved
- IP = In Progress
- P = Passed
- S = Satisfactory
- U = Unsatisfactory
- WD = Voluntary Withdrawal without failure after two-thirds of the course completed
- DR = Fail (course was dropped after the academic deadline)
- XF = Fail (exam was not written)
- F = Fail
Not Accountable: Granted only through a faculty petition committee decision due to extenuating circumstances. Appears on an official transcript adjacent to grades that are not used in the GPA calculation.
Failed Courses: A grade of DR, XF or F is a failed course with a ‘zero’ GPA value. You must repeat a failed course, if it is required for your program. If it is not required, you may repeat the course, or take an additional course. No course may be attempted more than twice.
Repeated Later: If a course is repeated then the first attempt will show as 'Repeated Later' and the grade from the second attempt will be included in the GPA calculation, regardless of whether it is higher or lower than the first attempt.
I don't remember my Student ID - how can I obtain this information?
We cannot release ID numbers over email. If you are unsure of your ID number, please contact Service Laurier via live chat or telephone and we can assist you with retrieving your ID number. If you were a student prior to 1970 please advise Service Laurier when you call and we can assist you with placing your order manually.
My grades aren't official, but I need them on my record - what can I do?Releasing official grades early is not a common practice as it is not equitable to complete for one student and not another. That being said, there are certain circumstances where an exception is made (i.e. Deadlines for graduate school, Visa purposes, etc.). If you believe you may be eligible, please complete the Early Grade Release Request Form.
Once approved, you will be required to provide proof of payment. Fee payment instructions will be included in your approval email. Full instructions, including a processing timeline, can be found on the Early Grade Release Request Form website directly.
I never got a Confirmation Email - what can I do?
If you do not receive a confirmation email within a few minutes of submitting your order, contact Service Laurier as soon as possible with your student ID number and a subject line of "Transcript Technical Difficulty."
